In fact, out of the 32 NHL teams the Penguins xGF% is second overall at 59.50. Only the New Jersey Devils at 60.85 are better. What the xGF% tells me is the team is playing sound. Their bottom six isn’t all that talented so the actual goals might lag behind. The bad goaltending will cause more goals to go in.

Wait wait wait...

A positive xGF% doesn't lead to a positive goal differential and therefore wins? It's almost like it discounts the talent of the shooters and goalies, which would just be silly.

"The actual goals might lag behind."

MIght? How about 16th overall. Once again, shooting percentage 27th in the league. This is a total team effort, from top to bottom.

Watching games recently has been really difficult Last night I was at the game and at no time did I feel they were in danger of losing. Watching on TV I would get this feeling of doom and gloom that something bad was about to happen but last night I did not have that feeling at all. They played the same in the first and the second and the third period. They seemed to feel the goalie had their back and were not playing scared. Really a weird feeling but it was there.

Worst use of a second round pick?

Trading one to make sure Vegas takes Fleury or

Trading one for Granlund

He hasn't taken long to join Dumo and Carter

I am pretty surprised with just how bad Granlund is.

Me too. He sucks. Small, slow and doesn't score goals.... Other than that he's been great.

This game doesn’t really count because it’s a good team, but this pk sucks. I was honestly surprised they are middle of the pack and not bottom of the league. Blueger better be demanding 5m a year next year to lose him.

Vs the top ranked PK or not you have to score one in your 6 PPs... Including a 5 on 3

0-6 on the PP. More horrible late game puck management and awareness.

Like I’ve said all season. Top 6 on this team continues to let the team down when it really counts.

I still really struggle to accept that we traded a perfectly good 2nd round pick for Granlund.

The 2nd round pick has made the same difference as Granlund has in these games. Nashville was probably laughing at us when we accepted that deal.

Such a garbage trade. 2 more years at 5 million. What a (frank)ing joke.

And can we please put the top 100 all time goal scorer on the top power play. Quit making poop hard.

Yep, 0-6 on the power play, including a 5v3 and a 6v4 hurt big time. Also going 1-3 on the penalty kill didn't help. Our special teams are bad. But hey, anyone can kill penalties, at least that's what I hear.

On a positive note, we have played the Bruins tight all three games. One goal losses in each. Maybe we can squeak out a win in the playoffs, two wins is asking a bit too much, but one, maybe.

Hex saved his 1st and avoided a big name trade but moved the 2nd for granlund.

Is a mid 1st really that much different than a 2nd? Factor in that 1st if any good won’t be on the roster for 3-4 seasons.

Idk looking back at MAF…should have just given him the total value he wanted spread out over more years.

This team will linger in the middle ground for years and that will be worse than bottoming out.

Yeah. It’s tough to watch Archibald out there working hard drawing penalties late in the game just to see the high paid players play ring around the perimeter all power play long. The whole constantly move players around on the power play is bullpoop and Carter should be infront if the net on the 1pp.
